Idra's Wisdom[edit]

  • Hands in pockets when you’re in the stores, otherwise you’ll break something.[1]
  • You got to start where you can start. [1]
  • When you meet new people don’t steal their stuff.[2]
  • A graveyard’s only creepy if you’re afraid of ghosts.[2]
  • Ghosts are great because they were people once.[2]
  • We got to keep an eye on nature.[3]
  • If you don’t try, then you’re never gonna win.[4]
  • You got to wrangle a few sheep to stay warm in the winter.[5]
  • Sometimes it’s okay to just have done an okay job. If you’re expecting a great job every time then the bar just keeps getting set higher and higher for yourself.[6]
  • If you like someone you shouldn’t tease them.[6]
  • If you’re looking for something special, then you’re going to miss all the special things that are already around you.[7]
  • When you have things you like looking at you should have people over so they might like looking at them too.[8]
  • You got to judge what a person looks like by what a person looks like inside.[8]
  • Lying to other people is like lying about a version of yourself that nobody wants to exist.[9]
  • If you’re with a group of people to not split up from them because bad things happen when you split your party.[9]
  • There’s always time for a party.[10]
  • Every adventure starts with the first step. You don’t always know where you’re going when you walk out the door, but you always end up somewhere.[11]
  • If you’re buying something that you don’t have enough to trade with right then and there you probably shouldn’t be buying that thing.[12]
  • Sometimes you go your whole life looking for love right in front of you but it was behind you the whole time.[13]
  • If you want to fall in love, you got to make a disco.[13]
  • Kids are responsible for all of the elements of their chores just as much as adults because if children don’t participate in the workings of the village then the village isn’t going to operate the best it can.[14]
  • If you ever travel to the past, make sure you don’t step on any rocks because then a butterfly in the future will die.[15]
  • It’s not about how many sheep you can lift over your head at one time, it’s about how many sheep you can get back into the pen.[16]
  • Don’t accept gifts from strangers because you never know, it might be poison.[16]
  • Birds aren’t real.[16]
  • Every time you lose a game you learn how to play it better next time.[17]
  • Some people have a bird face, some people a horse face, and some people a muffin face.[17]
  • Sometimes people just look on their face like they’re gonna murder you, but it’s just because that’s what their face looks like when it’s relaxing.[18]
  • You never want to meet an old god without a fancy crown.[19]
  • A sage named Alanis Morissette would talk frequently about irony. And the real irony is that the things she said were ironic were really just coincidental, and that it was a kind of meta irony that really was powerful.[20]
  • Sometimes your eyes are bigger than your gold.[21]
  • If you never ask for more, you’re never gonna get more than you already have.[21]
  • You know when someone’s lying to you.[21]
  • Get out of town before they push you out of town.[22]
  • You've got to be kind before you can make a friend.[22]
  • You've got to stop and look around and make sure, if you're telling a story that you're part of, that you're really feeling what's happening and not just observing.[22]
  • You can't hug someone again if you haven't hugged them for the first time.[22]
  • It's hard to dream when you're not sleeping.[22]
  • You don’t want to face anything challenging with bad socks.[23]
  • Never go to the Capitol unless you’ve put your big girl success pants on.[24]
  • You can do anything that you set your mind to as long as you got your best friends by your side.[24]
  • Everything you do requires patience and planning.[24]
  • Every road is formed by taking one step after another and seeing where it takes you.[24]
  • Every rose has its thorns.[24]
  • Wisdom happens as you live.[24]
  • Comfort is what you make of it.[24]
  • You can never trust anyone else with your money.[25]
  • Be polite, even to your enemies.[26]
  • If you ever want to talk to me or your mom all you got to do is close your eyes and hope really hard and we’ll be there for you.[27]
  • When an audience is clapping, you better bow.[28]
  • No one's ever gonna do anything for you.[28]
  • Never pass up an opportunity to hold you hands with your friends.[29]
  • You should curtsy even if you don't know the person is alive.[29]
  • You can tell if a person's lying about something if you surprise them with it.[30]
  • Never meet someone that you used to love, and maybe still definitely still love but you're unsure how they feel about you because they were missing for two years, without a flower.[30]
  • The eyes are the window to your brain.[31]
